Save Water, Save Energy, Save Money was the message as we embarked on a programme to install water meters for the majority of our customers.
We focused on engaging people of all ages in fun, waterwise campaigns.
We joined forces with Waterwise and the Energy Saving Trust to promote water and energy efficiency and launched online interactive water and energy audit tools.
We carried out water and energy audits (Home Saver Checks) for customers in our most water-stressed areas and distributed hundreds of DIY water saving kits containing Save-a-Flush bags, shower regulators and timers, plugs and tap aerators.
We also teamed up with Hollywood actor Johnny Depp, Blue Peter gardener Chris Collins and Olympic athlete Kriss Akabusi to share water saving tips and advice.
Johnny Depp starred in the animated adventure film Rango as the hero behind the search for a town’s missing water. We backed a water efficiency campaign, spearheaded by Rango, to encourage people to help water companies manage resources for the future.
We also joined the Big Tap Challenge, launched by Kriss Akabusi, which promotes using water wisely at home.
Chris Collins helped to spread the water efficiency message among the green-fingered community in our sponsorship of the South & South East in Bloom competition.
More than 4,000 children in 25 schools learnt about the importance of water during The Drips mime show, which also features our mascots Mr Save-It and Mr Drink-It.
In addition, our team of Waterwise speakers gave presentations to 109 schools and community groups, reaching an audience of more than 7,500.
