smart metering
We are fitting more than 2,000 intelligent electricity meters at our operational sites which will be capable of taking a meter reading every half an hour. This will enable us to develop a
clearer picture of how much electricity is being used and where, so we can reduce energy use in sites where consumption is above average.
top twenty
An energy reduction plan is targeting our 20 largest treatment works to install electricity meters at each stage of the treatment process to gather data on how much energy each section uses. We will then be able to compare the processes and energy use across the 20 sites to optimise our operations.
customer metering
Save Water, Save Energy, Save Money We are changing the way we supply and bill customers for water in the South East of England and aim to install water meters in the majority (92%) of homes we supply in the South East by 2015.
People on water meters tend to use less water and less water being used means less energy is needed in the water and wastewater treatment process and a reduction in carbon emissions.
