Drought Plan

Southern Water has a Drought Plan which sets out how we would deal with a drought in the South East of England.

The current plan, which was published in 2008, outlines how we would work to continue to supply safe, healthy drinking water under extreme dry conditions.

It also balances the need of the environment against the need to supply water.

We are updating this Drought Plan and in September 2011 we submitted a revised version to the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

This plan includes the introduction of new water restrictions and a timetable for their use as a drought develops.

We have carried out a public consultation to find out what our customers think about the new plan and following this published a Statement of Response.

We are currently updating the Draft Drought Plan with these responses before publishing a final Drought Plan later this year.
