The environment in Pyecombe will benefit from a £2 million investment by Southern Water.
We are upgrading two wastewater treatment works to ensure the flows leaving both sites are of the best possible quality.
At Pyecombe West treatment works, Pyecombe Street, work will take place to enlarge the site, install new equipment and build an access road.
The new road will remove the need for vehicles, including sludge tankers, to turn around at the end of Pyecombe Street. Construction starts this month and is expected to complete in February.
Pyecombe East treatment works, in Clayton Hill, is also being refurbished. New equipment including treatment tanks and a pumping station will be built. Construction is expected to complete in June.
Both schemes will further improve the quality of wastewater being recycled into the environment ensuring both sites continue to meet tightening standards set by the Environment Agency
The work is being carried out by contractor 4Delivery, a consortium comprising Veolia Water, Costain and MWH.
