Think water safety

Swimming is great fun, but always remember to take care near water:

♦ Never go swimming alone

♦ Always follow safety advice

♦ Learn to spot the dangers

♦ Learn how to help yourself and others in an emergency

Learn to Swim

Learn to SwimWith a 1,200km stretch of coastline bordering our region, and many more miles of rivers and streams, we believe it is appropriate for a water company to help teach children to swim. That’s why in 1992 we launched our Learn to Swim programme which has now taught more than half a million four-to-12-year-olds this fun but vital skill.

We now have 85 swimming clubs and leisure centres taking part in our award-winning scheme, so no matter where you live in Kent, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, East or West Sussex, you won’t have to travel far to find a pool where your children can join in.

We are indebted to our staff who voluntarily act as pool co-ordinators and to an experienced army of more than 1,000 swimming instructors who help us deliver the programme, teaching over 30,000 children a year how to swim.

Find out more about how your children can benefit from this scheme, which has been praised by parents and politicians alike, including government ministers.
