How will the CON29DW be changing after the Private Sewer Transfer?

As from October 1, ownership of private sewers and lateral drains will change in accordance with The Water Industry (Schemes for Adoption of Private Sewers) Regulations 2011. These changes in legislation will be reflected in the CON29DW from the date of transfer. The revised CON29DW will include answers to modified questions which will take into account newly transferred public sewers. The plans accompanying the CON29DW search will be updated with the location of newly transferred public sewers as soon as records are updated.

What information do I need to provide when ordering?

Accurate information is vital in enabling us to be able to process your order. Please complete the request form with as much information as possible. If the search is requested on a building plot, recent development or on a property with a significant area of land, then it advisable that you attach a plan clearly showing the boundaries of the property. If you have any questions arising from the results of the report, please send your enquiry to the following email address: searches@southernwater.co.uk, or call our helpline on 0845 270 0212, which is open from 08:00 to 17:00hrs.

If you are concerned that the report shows that the water quality has failed to meet the required standard, please note these samples are NOT house specific. They refer to samples taken from a large water zone. Random water sampling is carried out regularly from customer’s taps and from the test results accumulated for each water supply zone. The chances of this result being from the actual search property address are very low.

Southern Water Services investigate all infringements of water quality standards thoroughly while taking appropriate action to resolve any problems. All failures are followed up to be re-tested.

If there was any risk to public health from the quality of drinking water supplied, the Company would inform customers immediately to advise them not to drink the water until the risk had been removed. Further information on water quality is available on our website www.southernwater.co.uk/homeAndLeisure/

or by calling 0845 278 0845.
