Southern Water promotes the use of a Section 104 agreement (under the Water Industry Act 1991) for the adoption of new sewers and wastewater pumping stations that are to be constructed as part of new developments. Sewers and Pumping stations must be constructed in accordance with current publication ‘Sewers for Adoption’.

In addition to Sewers for Adoption, Southern Water has its own Wastewater Pumping Station addendum which should be referred to when making an application.

If Southern Water are to adopt new sewers and wastewater pumping stations that are to be constructed as part of new developments it will be necessary to complete S104 Sewers for Adoption Application. We would recommend reference to our S104 Sewers for Adoption Guidance Notes to assist in completing an application.
